Business Education Revises Standards

The Business Education Resource Consortium in conjunction with the Department of Education is updating the Business Career Path and Model Curriculum Standards. These standards are designed for California students and are aligned with national and state educational reform. The Model Curriculum Standards are organized into four career path clusters that relate to a variety of occupations within Business Education: Computer Science and Information Systems, Business Management, Accounting & Finance, and Marketing.

Educators from high schools, community colleges, and universities as well as representatives from business and industry have been selected to review the current Business Educational Standards. Advisory groups will meet at locations throughout the state during September and October. Recommendations will be forwarded to the Department of Education by December 31, 1999.
